Daring the Impossible

We are home now and back to our busy and crazy life. We took two weeks off from work knowing that this training was required for us to go out. It was something I was nervous about in regards to logistics and finances, but the instruction and focus we received there was invaluable. On our first day back (yesterday), Cory and I each got phone calls giving us job opportunities that more than make up for what we missed out on. I have been listening to stories of God's provision for the past two weeks in class and I know that we are seeing it too. I am no longer going to worry over anything to do with finances because I know he will provide what we need to do this work. We are looking for 50 more ministry partners who will give $25, $50, or $100 monthly, before we can leave.

We were watching a movie a few nights ago about the Lost Boys of Sudan and how a few of them resettled in America. It was interesting to see their perspective on our culture. They left their country to come here and begin a life like we live. A life full of comforts they weren't used to and so much stuff. It hit me that we were doing just the opposite. So many people around the world want this extravagant American life that we are so accustomed to and have grown up with all our lives. Are we really going to give all of that privilege away without a thought? The enormity of this decision in a global perspective hit me. We are the rich young ruler in Matthew 19 and we will leave it all to follow God.

We were fortunate enough to have had the chance to speak with people at Missionary Ventures who are older and wiser than us. I was impressed with the mentoring relationships MVI sets up so that we have constant counsel and instruction now and once we are in Nicaragua. After talking more with these people, we have decided not to visit Nicaragua before we move there. We have been called there and if God has called us we just need to GO. If God wants to use us, then we will obey completely and go to the place he will show us. (We will still be collecting miles at Points.com for our future flights.)

  1. Looking forward to following your journey and reading your blog. Welcome to the MV family.

I'm curious to see how the points.com thing works. We've been on the field 25 years and never heard of that!

    Praying for God's full provision.
