Chaka MarketBridge Fair Trade

Letter opener made by ESVO

There are exciting things happening at the ESVO this month! A fair trade organization called, Chaka MarketBridge, is beginning to work with the the school in a big way. They will be selling the iron and wood working pieces, made by the teacher/apprentices, online and in specialty stores around the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity and everyone is working overtime to create products to sell. All proceeds from these sales will go to support the Nicaraguan apprentice/teachers, as well as operations at the school.

Check them out at:  http://chakamarketbridge.com/

Cory is designing new wood furniture pieces to be developed in the project. The pieces being made now will be available for sale in about 6 months. We will post pictures of the sample pieces as soon as they are ready, in the next few weeks.

Due to being raised in a socialist culture, entrepreneurial drive is often lacking in the Nicaraguan people. Its challenging and exciting to be able to introduce them to this new idea.

Cory is planning to begin teaching English to the apprentice/teachers (and they will help him with his Spanish) each week. He will soon be teaching a woodworking class to the Nicaraguan high school students at Nejapa's Nicaraguan Christian Academy. Their school year runs from January to November, so classes will continue all summer. The students take other life skill classes at ESVO, manly arts like: iron works, mechanics, and cooking skills.

Please pray for the vocational school as they take on this new opportunity! We will keep you all posted on our progress.
